Anthill Farms Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 2013
A cutting edge Californian pinot made by three young guys trained by the best the west coast has to offer. The Anthill Farms guys buy the grapes and do the vineyard work (cultivating the vines) without owning the land itself, which means they are free to decide important stuff like production method, range and focus more time on the things that matter. The 2013 pinot is a great way in, shows the Anthill style (precise and clear pinots with savoury complexity) and is delicious young, though a recent 2006 was a revelation when tasted blind (tasting blind is when you don’t know what wine you’re drinking).
We don’t tend to go in for specific food recommendations but know from personal experience that this is the bomb with a salty, crispy roast chicken, Thomas Keller-style. If you haven’t come across this approach please give it a go here.
