Amelia Singer – Episode 1

TV’s Amelia Singer brings a rare mix of joy, rigour and irreverence to wine. Whether from The Wine Show or her own Amelia’s Wine platform, she’s built a reputation for speaking plainly and celebrating pleasure – no posturing. That made her the perfect guest for Part 1 of Ourglass Tapes, a series exploring culture, taste, and the wines we actually want to drink.

We first connected during the pandemic and quickly found common ground: a belief in wines with integrity, storytelling, and substance. “There are so many wine clubs out there,” Amelia tells us. “But I only mention wines I like – I want to sleep at night. What stood out with Ourglass was how you link wine to music, art, the zeitgeist. It’s fresh, relatable, not patronising. I thought – these are the kind of people I’d actually want to drink with.”

At Ourglass, our wine subscription isn’t just a box of bottles. It’s a dispatch from people and places doing things differently – whether that’s low-intervention growers in the Loire or old vine Chenin from the Cape. Amelia understood that immediately. “Decent, cool people doing good things,” she says. “I liked what I saw.”

And then - Crunchy Nut Cornflakes. With fizz. “Yes,” Amelia laughs, “we’re going there.” Proof that joy often lives in the unexpected, and good taste isn’t afraid of a little fun.
