The most reliable way to find excellent wine is to look where the premium is not being charged.
South Africa and Oregon are producing whites of serious quality at prices that have not yet caught up with the reputation. Partly because they are not France. Partly because the critics who set prices are slower to update than the winemakers who are doing the work. Both of these wines would be priced considerably higher if they came from a more fashionable postcode. They do not. That is your advantage.
One is built for people who find most whites too thin. One is built for people who find most whites too heavy. The Punching Whites brief is simple: find wines that outperform what they cost, wherever they come from, and put them here.
These two are currently doing it.
