Roagna
Barbera d'Alba
The Roagnas have been winemakers since the late 19th century. Since taking the reins in 2001, Luca Roagna has upheld the family’s dedication to traditional Piedmontese winemaking. This Barbera d'Alba comes from organically farmed vines aged 25 to 50 years, grown on calcareous soils and fermented slowly with native yeasts. It is aged for two years in large Slavonian oak, unfiltered and minimally sulphured. Expect vibrant red berries, savoury spice and a mineral core. The palate is fresh, with bright acidity and fine tannins giving it poise and length. This is a structured yet expressive Barbera with ageing potential. Enjoy with mushroom risotto, grilled lamb or aged pecorino. This traditional Piedmontese Barbera from old vines shows red berries and mineral freshness with fine structure, ideal with lamb and hearty risottos.
