Grenache

This single-variety Swartland Grenache from old bush vines is a benchmark example of the region’s new-wave precision. David and Nadia Sadie farm dry-farmed parcels across Paardeberg on granite, schist and iron-rich soils, practising sustainable viticulture with minimal intervention in the cellar. The fruit is hand-harvested, partially whole-bunch fermented and aged in old oak to retain purity and finesse. Expect sour cherry, dried herbs and pink peppercorn. The palate is bright and fine-boned; tannins are sculpted, with a mineral hum that lingers quietly. Pair with roast lamb shoulder, tomato-rich bean stews or aubergine baked with spices. This Swartland Grenache shows cherry brightness, savoury lift and mineral focus, ideal with roast lamb or spiced aubergine.
