Discover wine’s possibilities

“What is the good of your stars and trees, your sunrise and the wind, if they do not enter into our daily lives?”

~ E.M. Forster, Howard’s End

At Ourglass, we love to share the cherished discoveries that result from much sampling, umming, ahhing, and general back and forth. We value the real world connection that only comes from visiting the producers and vineyards that produce our wines. We like our producers obsessive, humble, and a little unconventional. People who live and breathe their craft to make beautiful, delicious wines.

This month’s choices exemplify the type. Winemakers such as Marthe Henri Boillot, an emerging star of Burgundy with access to many of Meursault’s finest vineyards. Or our friend Francois de Nicolay with Domaine des Moriers who makes beautiful biodynamic cru and regional beaujolais. Or Christoph and Andrea Schaefer of Willi Schaefer, famous for making consistently beautiful Rieslings from the great vineyards of the Mosel Valley. As we wrap up the July selection, we’re excited to source some extra special cuvées for August.

We hope you enjoy the adventure. Explore on for pairings, tasting notes, and additional insights.

Addendum – a few more things to enjoy in July and beyond:

- what we’re eating – in season mackerel, tomato and samphire salad – prep here

- what we’re doing – mulling over the beauty of the 2021 French wine vintage – read here

- what we’re listening to – Nick Bailey former landlord of fave haunt the Southampton Arms did a splendid playlist for us – listen here

- what we’re watching – The Bear and Oppenheimer clearly :)

If any of our bottles floats your boat, drop us a line and we’ll send you some more.

Cheers.
